Adult Lessons

"It’s never  too late to learn to play."

Firstly, it’s never  too late to learn to play.  And if you’ve been playing for some time, it’s never to late to improve your technique, musical knowledge, and reach new heights in your playing you may not have thought were possible.

Secondly, the idea that you either have it or you don’t, is nonsense.  Music is a skill and anybody can learn to play. Playing guitar is one of the only skills that includes physical technique, artistic expression and intellectual calculation together in one hobby. (That’s why us musicians are so smart…)

It’s also fun buying the gear and enjoying the tactile experience; Shiny guitars, tube amps, effects pedals, physical knobs, buttons and faders and a dangerously high level of coolness. Plus, it’s much cheaper than a convertible or a golf membership!

REASONS WHY PLAYING MUSIC IS GREAT FOR ADULTS

Cognitive Benefits:  Playing an instrument helps improve brain function by enhancing memory, concentration, and problem-solving skills. It also strengthens neural connections, which can delay cognitive decline as you age.

Stress Relief:  Music has a therapeutic effect, helping to reduce stress and anxiety. Playing an instrument can serve as a mindful, relaxing activity that allows you to focus on the music rather than daily pressures.

Emotional Expression:  Music provides a powerful outlet for expressing emotions. For adults, it can be a creative way to process feelings, whether you're playing to celebrate joy or soothe sadness.

Boosts Confidence:  Learning something new, like an instrument, requires patience and practice. As you improve, your confidence grows, and the sense of achievement can carry over into other areas of life.

Lifelong Learning:  Engaging in music as an adult fosters a growth mindset. It’s a way to keep your brain active, explore new challenges, and keep learning throughout life.

Fun and Enjoyment:  Ultimately, playing music is just plain fun. It can be a fulfilling hobby that adds joy and excitement to your life.
