"I like to make learning music fun. After all, it shouldn’t feel like a chore."
I like to make learning music fun. After all, it shouldn’t feel like a chore. I also have the attitude that kids are smart and can be taught proper technique and musical knowledge without a need to dilute their music education. We approach other subjects like sport with more positive expectations and there's no reason not to do the same with music. With good humour, a friendly and encouraging environment, kids can learn and progress with music at a fantastic rate. I adapt the pace and content of lessons for young students and provide a colourful beginner-friendly lesson plan to help them get started.
REASONS WHY PLAYING MUSIC IS GREAT FOR KIDS
Improves Cognitive Skills: Music enhances brain function, promoting better memory, concentration, and problem-solving skills. It can help children with math and language skills because of the patterns, rhythms, and structures involved in music.
Aids Emotional Regulation: Playing an instrument allows children to express their emotions in a healthy and creative way. It can also teach them how to process and communicate feelings.
Builds Patience and Discipline: Learning an instrument requires practice and persistence. Children develop discipline as they work on improving their skills, and they learn that success comes with consistent effort.
Increases Self-Esteem: Mastering a piece of music or successfully performing in front of others boosts children's confidence. It helps them see the results of their hard work and feel a sense of accomplishment.
Improves Motor Skills: Learning to play an instrument, especially one like the piano or drums, helps children develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. It enhances their ability to control movements.
Promotes Multitasking: Music requires a lot of brain activity simultaneously, such as reading sheet music, using both hands, and paying attention to rhythm and pitch. This multitasking builds children's ability to focus and process information more efficiently.
